Inside out 12/27/19

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

Got all but the back 2 body bolts off on 12/4/19 and they are just spinning. Gas tank is back there filled with who knows what so we started to pull the interior apart to get it out and get to the last 2 mounts. Disgusting! There are parts and dirt and something took a crap back there. So with gloves and face mask all started to come out and got boxed to hopefully be able to use as templates for new interior pieces.

Can anyone out there explain to me the logic behind this fiberglass panel and this wood panel? Where they going to make a glovebox here?

Much to our surprise, behold an aluminum gas tank. At least we wont have that expense. You have to ask yourself, do I want to operate a vehicle, that's only rear collision protection is a a 1x2 piece of wood! A steel box frame will be replacing the carpentry work.

Going to be fun making new carpets from these.

With that all out and put away, we are looking at the dash panel wondering what treasures we will find.

There was a cubby in the console and a shallow well in the package shelf for the jack and tools. Both were carpet lined and covered with a carpet flap backed by hardboard/“Masonite” stiffener. Also, the floor panel over the gas tank was hardboard. Most of 1974’s and, I think, all of 1973 the consoles were carpeted. There are carpet kits available. I used the one from Lakewell. There is a thread on carpets on TVRCC (UK) but it is easy to use bulk/yardage auto carpet and mark and cut in place. The difficult pieces are the ones that need edge binding.
